I've never had so many bottles of rum at the home bar. Aged, dark, white, and spiced rums are finding their way into all sorts of drinks. Judging from conversations I've had about rum it seems that people don't think of this spirit first when ordering a cocktail unless vacationing somewhere beachy. But in my opinion, it's more interesting than vodka and pairs fantastically with dozens of fresh ingredients.
Rum Berry Crush 2 ounces white rum (I used Shellback silver here) 1 ounce orange liqueur (triple sec will do) Squeeze of one lemon wedge 1 cup fresh strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries (include others if you'd like) Muddle the fruit with the spirits, then shake with ice. Serve with crushed ice or strain into a martini glass. Garnish with lemon.
