If you find yourself in Los Angeles, and feel like checking out the incredible coastline, be sure to stop for lunch, afternoon drinks, or a romantic dinner at Terranea, an incredibly gorgeous resort in Palos Verdes, on the southern tip of the Santa Monica Bay. We were there for lunch, and not only did the sun shine and sky beam a brilliant blue, but dolphins were out gallivanting in the ocean. I mean, can you get any more SoCal than that?
Nelson’s is Terranea’s casual lunch spot, where you can sit outside with an ocean view. The full bar offers a handful of signature cocktails, but we chose a Patrón Silver Mojito, and Patrón Tequila’s version of a Moscow Mule, called Jalisco’s Mule, made with Patrón Silver, ginger liqueur (the bartender substituted with ginger beer, which tasted great), simple syrup, and lime juice. Both were fabulous and perfect to enjoy in the warm sun with mahi mahi tacos and cod fish & chips.
Because this resort boasts breathtaking views of the ocean, coastline, and Catalina island, after your meal take advantage of the scenic trail that leads to a quaint little cove of aqua blue water. On the trail you’ll pass the hotel’s spa and pool, and the main pool, and even the remnants of an old dock where seagulls perch. This destination is a trek outside of LA proper, and not anywhere near Hollywood or downtown (for all you out-of-towners that think they’re near the beach), but well worth the trip.
