The tradition of leaving cookies for Santa Claus was created by a big fat liar mom with a sweet tooth the size of the North Pole. A mom who tucks her kids into bed extra early on Christmas Eve so that she can get back downstairs to watch a movie and stuff her face with Cabernet and warm chocolate chip cookies. I am that mom.
Although my kids are old enough now to know that nothing is ever coming down the chimney, we still make cookies. They get to eat a couple right out of the oven, and rest are still left for the "reindeer" (AKA momdeer).
This year, I'm changing it up a little bit. Instead of drinking cab with cookies, I'm drinking a cookie cocktail with my cookie. Ok and probably still some cab too. Who are we kidding...
