A Hot Buttered Rum cocktail recipe is a classic drink known for its ability to warm your gut, clear your nose, and comfort your soul. Whether any of this is really true, one thing's for certain: it's damn tasty.
There is a wee bit of prep work involved if you count chilling the butter batter "work." But you don't have to adhere to this step. Using the freshly made butter batter right away won't lessen the quality of your cocktail.
Mix... 1 tablespoon butter 1 tablespoon of brown sugar ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
We'd recommend making a large batch so that you have enough for company, or to drink by yourself every night in January. We kinda eyeball it so if you're into that kind of "cooking," take a stick of softened butter and mix it with about ½ a cup of sugar, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Stir well, then refrigerate for hours or for weeks if necessary. The best part about eyeballing it is tasting it until it tastes like a butter cookie.
Once you're ready to make the Hot Buttered Rum, scoop a tablespoon into a glass and allow it to warm to room temperature.
Add... 2 ounces of rum 4-6 ounces boiling water
Stir well and once it's safe to drink it, serve it!
