How to Host an Epic Superbowl Party in the 813

It’s finally February in Tampa Bay! The sun is shining, the snowbirds are here, and the weather is warming up. February also means Groundhogs Day, Valentine’s Day, and most importantly- Superbowl Sunday! Whether you’re watching it for Rihanna’s halftime show (obviously the reason we’re watching it), to see the Philadelphia Eagles take on the Kansas City Chiefs, or you’re not planning on watching it at all, it’s the perfect excuse to throw a party!

So, you’ve decided to have people over at your place for the big game. Now how do you make it the best Super Bowl party ever? Whether you’re located in Hyde Park, Clearwater Beach, Redington Shores, Gulfport, Bradenton, Sarasota, or Pasadena, we have just the tips for you to make that happen.

Beer Cocktail for Sunday Football

Create a Tasty Menu with All the Football Foods

Everyone who goes to a football party expects all the major food groups that football watching entails. This includes buffalo chicken dip, mini hot dogs (try rolling the crescent rolls in everything bagel seasoning to elevate this snack), wings, and pizza. Be sure to order the pizza and wings in advance, or make your own at home to impress your guests. Skip the chains like Pizza Hut and Dominos and order Westshore Pizza, Infinity Pizza off of McMullen Booth in Clearwater, The Nona Slice House in Safety Harbor, Eddie and Sam’s NY Pizza in downtown Tampa, or Gianni’s NY Pizza in St. Pete.

Pro tip: hire a food truck or a catering company if you’re having a bigger party and don’t want to worry about making food or cleaning it all up. You can also get fancy and have designated foods for each team. This year, Philly cheesesteak sliders are an obvious choice for the Eagles, and for Kansas City- I would go with chicken spiedinis. Thank me later for those recommendations.

This Girl Walks Into a Bar Bartenders

Hire a Friendly Bartender

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again - hiring an amazing bartender to handle making cocktails along with pouring beer and wine is a game changer. It frees you from the worry of making sure your guests have a drink, or from not knowing how to make their preferred cocktail. Plus, you’ll have more time to spend with friends and it’s an easy way to make a great impression on your company. Why go to the bar, when the bar can come to you? If you’re looking for a great bartending service in Tampa Bay, from St. Pete to Safety Harbor, to Davis Island, and beyond, our friendly, knowledgeable, and fun bartenders would love to help you out.

Themed Superbowl Cocktails for Each Team

Once you have a bartender booked, themed cocktails can be a fun way to add to the overall ambiance and excitement of the Super Bowl party. Let us do the work for you by adding custom cocktails when you hire a bartender! Or, get creative with making your own Patrick Mahomes cocktail or Jalen Hurts cocktail. Try using team colors, players of the team, or the city the team is from for inspiration. And of course- have fun with it!

Make & Sell Super Bowl Squares

A Super Bowl party isn’t a party without betting. That’s why you need to incorporate super bowl squares into your game-day extravaganza! People love betting more than you think, especially on Super Bowl Sunday. I mean, did you know you can bet on how long the National Anthem takes to sing? My guess is 99 seconds. Feel free to send me a check if you win. (Kidding - kind of). It’s also a great way to get everyone involved and into the game, even those who could care less. Just look up a Super Bowl squares template online and copy it onto a huge whiteboard or poster paper. Once it’s all written down, start selling the squares to everyone you’ve invited. Better yet, tell guests in an invitation to Venmo or zelle you the money to lock down their squares so it’s all ready to go when the party starts. One less day-of thing to worry about!

Some more above-and-beyond ways to make your Super Bowl party even more epic?

  • Have the game up on a big projector screen so the whole party can see it. Make sure the speakers are turned on loud enough for everyone to hear.

  • Play some music in the background of rooms where the game isn’t on.

  • Have plenty of sodas, waters, and other drinks for guests who don’t drink.

  • Decorate like crazy!

  • PS- don’t forget the dessert. Easy go-to desserts include cookies, brownies, and other baked goods since you can make them the day before (or buy them).

Hopefully, these tips will help when planning the best Super Bowl party ever for Super Bowl LVII! We’re cheering for you!
