5 Themed Parties to Throw in Tampa this March

5 Themed Parties to Throw in Tampa this March

As February comes to an end and we put our Mardi Gras parties and Super Bowl parties in the past, we are thinking ahead to themed parties we can host this March. The first one that comes to mind is obviously St. Patrick’s Day, which we’ve already written an entire blog post about, so look out for specifics on that! But, what else can we celebrate this month in Tampa Bay? Luckily, we’ve done the thinking for you! Check out these amazing ideas below.

Girls Night Forever (March 1- 31)

It’s women’s history month so why not celebrate what it means to be feminine! What better way to celebrate than by throwing a girl’s night themed bash? What woman doesn’t like a night out with their best pals?

Take your typical night on the town in St. Pete or Hyde Park to the next level by throwing a girls night party in the comfort of your own home. Think Sex and the City meets teenage sleepovers with cosmopolitans, cozy and cute pajamas, and all the best desserts like the Florida favorite- key lime pie, all the while you’re catching up on all the latest with your favorite women, blasting your favorite tunes, and relaxing. What’s not to love about this idea? You can have a few drinks without worrying about getting home, and you don’t have to worry about men flirting with you at the bar.

Stick with the theme by hiring a female-owned and operated bartending company like This Girl Walks Into A Bar to shake up cocktails for you so you can relax with your girls. Take it up a notch by planning a paint and sip at home or having a wine tasting with a professional sommelier based in St. Pete (also a women-owned and operated business). The best part about this theme is you can throw this party any time during the month of March! Start planning it now!

St. Pete Grand Prix Party (March 3-4)

On Mar 5, 2023, The Firestone Grand Prix will be held in downtown St. Petersburg as the IndyCars opening race event. It’s a beautiful course that runs through downtown St. Pete annually. It’s located directly on the waterfront near 1st St. If you live in the area, having a party may be a fun way to pregame the event if you and a group of friends are planning on attending.

If you’re not going to the race, you can still celebrate by hosting your own race-themed party. Check Amazon or hobby lobby for some race-car/ NASCAR themed party decor. Have your own race games like a duck race in the pool and a finishers betting pool to get your guests interested. Cook up burgers, hot dogs, and other grilled food items, and create some fun themed cocktails like the Race Car. It’s basically a sidecar but replaces the cognac with bourbon. Batch it in a punch bowl for easy serving the day of, or hire a bartender to do it for you!

Strawberry Fields Forever (March 2-12)

The Florida Strawberry Festival is held annually at the Florida State Fairgrounds across from the Tampa Hard Rock off of I-4. While it’s a great time to go and experience it if you’ve never been, it can also be crowded, overwhelming, and packed with kids trying to win prizes and ride the ferris wheel. Don’t get me wrong - we love kids. But sometimes you just want a night to decompress after a long week of work by drinking some tasty cocktails and hanging out with friends. So, why not bring the strawberry theme home?

Deck your home out in strawberry themed everything with red balloons, napkins, cups, and banners. Create themed strawberry cocktails for all your guests like a Strawberry Cucumber Gin & Tonic, a strawberry margarita, or a strawberry daiquiri. Don’t forget to have strawberry shortcake for dessert!

Spring Breakers Themed Party (March 1-31)

For anyone who lives in Pinellas County, Sarasota County, or Hillsborough County, March means another thing… Spring Breakers. We were all once those young, fun, and happy college kids taking over the beaches in March and April. Why not relive those days by having a themed party at home?! Since the beaches are overcrowded this time of year for that exact reason, it’s the perfect time to stay home and avoid the wild scene that Spring Break in Florida can bring.

It really is the perfect excuse to host a pool party. Host it on a Saturday during the day and make sure everyone brings their swimsuits so they can cool off throughout the party. Grab a keg to get into the college spirit, but amp up the typical college drinks to crafty cocktails since, well, we’re all adults now.

Our favorite go-to poolside cocktails would have to be an Aperol Spritz, a Gin Mojito, or a Spicy Mint Margarita for the tequila lovers. We also recommend some delicious bottles of Rose like Hampton Water, Cote des Roses, and Whispering Angel along with having a blender on hand to make pina coladas, miami vices, and other fun frozen drinks that scream “I am on vacation!”

March Madness Party (March 11-14)

March Madness starts on March 14 which is a Tuesday. We recommend having a party the weekend before in honor of the fun events ahead. This is for the people who love their sports parties. It’s also for those who wanted to host a superbowl party but their friend has already claimed the annual event at their home. A March Madness party can be just as, if not, more fun than a Superbowl party in our opinion. Here’s why:

You can have all your guests dress up in different team colors/uniforms and play your own games with a bracket and all. Games can include a Park & Rec Tampa/ St. Pete favorite - giant beer pong using volleyballs and trash cans, HORSE if you own a basketball hoop, or everyones favorite lawn game- cornhole. Create a bracket on a dry-erase board or a chalkboard or just a big poster board if that’s all you have, and have each team pick a name. Have the games playing on TV in the background of course, and let your guests make their own brackets by printing out brackets to fill out.

Be sure to incorporate some fun basketball cocktails like the Full Court Press, Mamba in Manhattan, or the Elite 8

Bring on March and all the festivities! Which party will you host at your home? Let us know, and be sure to book your bartender in advance if you want to impress guests and enjoy the party just as much as your guests.
